Rotary Wing Opportunities

Dear friends from the rotary wing community,

Thanks to your continued patronage and readership, Kaypius has an international audience of over 30000 and growing. During this journey, many readers, employers and recruitment agencies have connected with me.

Where Are The Jobs?

Unlike scheduled airlines, jobs in the non-scheduled rotary wing industry are hard to come by. There are huge entry barriers for specialised roles and many countries do not have adequate flight schools that feed freshers into the sector. Military helicopter pilots have traditionally been the bulwark of this industry in countries such as India still finding its place on the world helicopter map. Coteries have exploited this situation and the playfield is not exactly level.

Of late, there has been a slow migration of rotary wing pilots to fixed wing as airlines start hiring experienced pilots through the ‘Rotor Transition Program‘. This creates both opportunities and challenges for the sector.

Threats or Opportunities?

It is 2019. The explosive growth of airline industry coupled with tardy growth of helicopters (and other forms of urban mobility solutions taking to the air) will have its impact on job opportunities for helicopter crew. Challenges are many. In such a scenario, we all have an equal stake and responsibility to pass around the job opportunities, however few and far between they may be.

We All Owe It Back To The Community

Towards this, I have started this initiative to bring more visibility through my blog.

This will be the landing page where I post job opportunities in the rotary wing sector. If you or anyone you know is interested in the opening, feel free to share this link (or embedded links) and directly contact the recruiter.

Kindly note that you are responsible for due diligence before applying and as such www.kaypius.com does not take responsibility for the opportunities or recruiters that appear here. I am NOT a recruitment agent. I merely use my reach to give publicity to opportunities. It is up to you what you want to do with the openings that appear here.

Those of you who feel like helping out, please share job opportunities that come up on your radar with me via mail (kipsake1@gmail.com), WhatsApp, Twitter (@realkaypius), LinkedIn (KP Sanjeev Kumar), or any other channel that suits you. I will use this medium to propel it further on to desirous candidates. If you or someone you know wants to be added to this subscription list, please mail me on kipsake1@gmail.com with your contact details.

Openings will be posted on this page as and when they turn up with the most recent one on top. Opportunities that have been filled will be marked ‘closed’ or deleted. Wish you good luck and happy landings. If you do make a successful connection with a job, please post your feedback under the comments thread. Likewise for failed attempts & negative feedback (so that we can weed out fraudulent recruiters).

Many more to come, stay tuned!

Is my Indian licence valid and accepted in other countries? (One of the answers obtained from an overseas Indian is posted below)

The Indian license is valid for validation to the countries in Africa. One has to take regulation paper in Africa to redeem Indian license. In Europe and US/Canada it gets recognized to one stage lower. However one must take qualifying exam to earn their license followed by flying test.US is most liberal but post 2001 they have regimented the permission through TSA(Homeland security). One has to apply in US for credential check by DGCA who confirm the license status and currency.US will then permit to access to FAA exam and validation.

Reference rotor transition program. With the recent DGCA amendment promulgated for CPL, wherein entire past experience of fixed wing flying is recognised, does the CPL transition make sense for CPLH holders already in the industry? Your views would be most welcome.

    Appreciations KPS. Well done.

Read your appropriate and detailed analysis of the recent ‘Loss of Tail Rotor Effectiveness’ incident. Explains all.

We’ll talk more when in JVT Bangalore.

Great job! Just a few thoughts on some of these “opportunities”. Looks like these companies want to keep their cake and eat it too. They want ‘on type’ experience, which tells me they are not willing too invest in training and then they want to ask the pilots to travel across the world for a measly $700/- a day??
What about benefits, medical, insurance, paid vacations and sick time etc. Then ,and only then, can you ask for a fully qualified 13p/Mi 17/8 pilot.
If you want cheap labor, then be prepared to invest in training, hire some experienced pilots with no type experience, put them through training and hold them to a training contract.
